WHY 5 Dead Russian Generals - and NO Dead Ukrainian Generals - Matters
The Russian generals are making deadly errors, AND the Ukrainians are targeting them
In my piece yesterday titled ‘5th Russian General Killed in Ukraine is Big Deal’ I argued that losing five Russian Major Generals (equivalent to US Brigadiers) in 20 days was noteworthy.
I compared their current losses to their four generals lost in 10 years of combat in Afghanistan and noted that the five killed now was fully 25% of the 20 Russian generals in the Ukraine combat theater.
I also noted some basic tactical and communications failures that led to at least one of the general's deaths.
Nevertheless, my analysis produced some significant push back from at least one senior retired Pentagon official who argued that these losses weren't really significant.
