May 13, 2022 - Russian forces control all of Rubizhne in the east of Ukraine and are expected to launch a ground assault on Severodonetsk in the coming days, according to the latest assessment by the Institute for the Study of War.

Also in the Donbas region, Ukrainian forces have successfully prevented Russian attempts to cross the Donets river in the Donbas region, the UK’s Ministry of Defense has said in its latest intelligence update, with images indicating that Russia has lost an entire Battalion Tactical Group.

Elsewhere, Ukraine says it had damaged a Russian navy logistics ship near Snake Island, a small but strategic outpost in the Black Sea, while a Russian soldier is due to stand trial today for killing an unarmed Ukrainian civilian – the first alleged war crime case since the war began.
